TREEHOUSE FOLK GUIDES
What to pack for a treehouse weekend
Start with the listing, not a giant packing list. Some treehouse stays provide a full kitchen and linens; others call for a different plan. Bring what fits your stay.
A small set of useful basics
- Clothes for the forecast and an extra layer for time outdoors.
- Comfortable shoes appropriate to the approach described by the host.
- Your usual toiletries, phone charger and booking details.
- A compact light for finding your way, plus arrival instructions saved where you can read them without a signal.
Choose bags you can comfortably carry over the actual approach. A wheeled suitcase may be convenient indoors but awkward on steps or an uneven path. Edenwood describes an inclined trail; Swallow’s Nest lists stairs and an elevated walkway. Check those details before deciding how much to bring.
Pack these only if the listing calls for them
- Food and coffee: check whether there is a kitchen, a kitchenette or simply a few appliances, and which utensils and supplies are included. Plan meals around that equipment.
- Towels and bedding: ask what is supplied before filling a bag with duplicates. Dreamweaver’s operator says linens and towels are provided; that is a fact about that stay, not a promise for every property.
- For a detached shower: consider a shower bag, robe and suitable footwear if you will walk outside. La Paz describes shared showers about 60 yards away; check what your own host provides.
- Swimwear and outdoor-shower items: useful when your chosen stay has those facilities and permits their use. Confirm seasonal operation and what the host supplies.
- A book, cards or downloaded entertainment: bring what you enjoy. If you need Wi-Fi or phone signal, check the listing before you go.
What you don’t need to bring
You do not need special outdoor gear just because it is a treehouse. Ask about any unusual facility in advance. Edenwood describes a wood-fired tub that takes preparation; get the host’s instructions rather than bringing your own equipment or assuming it will be ready when you arrive.
One final check: arrival time, forecast, food plan and what is already provided. For the questions worth settling first, read our booking checklist.
